Decorative finish samples should be assessed under natural light. Buyers should also confirm whether the approved finish is suitable for exterior use, since a colour developed for interior doors may not maintain the same appearance outside.

Check Door Weight and Wind Conditions

External doors are often heavier than interior doors and may experience sudden wind loads. Hinges, closers, pivots, and fixing points must be selected according to the actual door dimensions and weight.

Door width also changes the force applied to the hinges and closer. Providing only the door material is not enough. Accurate height, width, thickness, weight, opening angle, and traffic frequency allow the hardware manufacturer to review the operating conditions properly.

Require Relevant Testing

Testing requirements depend on the destination market and building type. Useful evaluations may cover corrosion resistance, operating cycles, coating adhesion, mechanical strength, and fire-door compatibility.

Test results should relate to the specified material and finish. A report for one stainless steel grade or surface treatment should not automatically be applied to a different configuration.

Plan Maintenance Before Installation

Even weather-resistant door fittings require cleaning and inspection. Salt, pollution, and water deposits should be removed with suitable non-abrasive products. Hinges, locks, fixings, and closers should be checked periodically for looseness, wear, or water entry.
